Power BI: trustworthy models, measures and report delivery
Eighteen developed lessons connect Power Query, star modeling, DAX context, visual behavior, security, refresh, storage modes and governed distribution through small synthetic sales examples.
Start learningIn this course
Build analytical contracts from grain and source quality through relationships, measures and the reader’s selection context. Every lesson includes five developed sections, two explained technical examples, three diagnostic mistakes, two worked exercises, takeaways and specific official Microsoft references. The Arabic course provides the complete connected explanations and worked reasoning in the same order.
Use exact synthetic oracles to challenge plausible totals, duplicated facts, context changes and stale data. All DAX, M, model diagrams and UI/service procedures remain unexecuted runnable:false illustrations. Only complete standard-library Python programs run locally in isolated temporary storage. No Power BI account, tenant, gateway, source, database, external service or real dataset is accessed.
What you will learn
- Define grain, types, quality rules and relationships that preserve business meaning.
- Explain DAX row/filter context, totals, ratios and date comparisons with independent expected results.
- Design understandable, accessible report interactions and governed consumer journeys.
- Review RLS, refresh, gateways, storage modes and distribution without unsupported service claims.
Your learning path
Three levels
Basic: analytical and modeling foundations
Define data meaning, preparation, star relationships, measures and visual context.
- Desktop, service and analytical contracts
- Power Query types and locale
- Shaping, unpivot and quality ledgers
- Star schema and filter paths
- Measures, aggregation and ratios
- Visual context, filters and interactions
Intermediate: context, quality and access
Develop precise DAX context, date, combination, RLS and refresh contracts.
- CALCULATE and filter modification
- Iterators, row context and related data
- Date tables and time comparisons
- Merge, append, folding and privacy
- Row-level security and access boundaries
- Refresh, gateways and freshness evidence
Advanced: performance and governed delivery
Review storage modes, performance, accessibility, distribution, partition policies and release evidence.
- Storage modes and query boundaries
- Model and DAX performance reasoning
- Accessible navigation and report state
- Workspaces, apps and license boundaries
- Incremental refresh and partition contracts
- Capstone: model validation and delivery
Who this is for
- Analysts and report authors who want precise preparation, modeling and calculation foundations.
- Reviewers responsible for metric meaning, report usability, data freshness and consumer access.
Before you start
- Basic tabular data, arithmetic and filtering familiarity; no previous DAX or M knowledge is required.
- No Desktop installation, paid license, cloud subscription, credentials or external data is needed to study the material.
