MySQL: Relational Queries, Concurrency, and Operations
Build reliable MySQL 8.4 LTS schemas, queries, transactions, analytical reports, and recovery plans through a coherent stationery-shop laboratory.
Start learningIn this course
This bilingual public theory course develops MySQL knowledge from relational modeling to operational reasoning. Eighteen substantial lessons use a synthetic stationery shop to connect query results, integrity rules, concurrent changes, and recovery decisions. Each lesson includes explained SQL, realistic failures, worked exercises, and official references.
The target is MySQL 8.4 LTS with InnoDB. Examples are illustrative and marked non-runnable; displayed deterministic results are derived from the declared fixture, while performance and administrative output are explicitly environment-dependent. The material neither connects to configured databases nor requests production changes. MariaDB differences are identified where portability matters.
What you will learn
- Model identities, relationships, exact amounts, and missing values.
- Write deterministic reports with joins, aggregates, CTEs, and windows.
- Protect state changes with constraints, guarded writes, transactions, and safe parameters.
- Read optimizer evidence and diagnose locking without inventing performance guarantees.
- Explain JSON contracts, stored programs, tested backups, GTID progress, and failover boundaries.
Your learning path
Three levels
Relational foundations and precise SQL
Model the shop and write correct reads and scoped changes.
- Relational thinking and the shop laboratory
- Selecting, filtering, and missing values
- Joins and relationship cardinality
- Aggregation and questions inside questions
- Safe INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE
- Types, normalization, and schema evolution
Reliable applications and analytical queries
Connect isolation, constraints, plans, reusable relations, analytics, and security.
- InnoDB transactions and isolation
- Constraints and purposeful indexes

- Window functions and analytical frames
- Accounts, roles, and safe query construction
Concurrency, performance, and operations
Diagnose contention and plan sustainable performance, document contracts, and recovery.
- Locking, waits, and deadlock recovery
- Optimizer evidence and sustainable performance
- JSON and relational boundaries
- Stored routines, handlers, and responsibility
- Backup, restore, and point-in-time recovery
- Replication, GTIDs, and operational readiness
Who this is for
- Developers learning relational SQL and MySQL application design.
- Engineers who need to reason about transactions, query plans, and operational recovery.
Before you start
- Basic familiarity with programming variables and simple arithmetic.
- No existing database connection is required; optional practice needs a separately provisioned disposable MySQL 8.4 lab.
