In this course

Eighteen complete chapters progress from request lifecycle and dependency resolution to database relationships, authorization, APIs, testing, asynchronous work, performance, security, and deployment reasoning. Synthetic course and publishing examples connect framework behavior to observable outcomes. Every chapter contains developed explanations, worked examples, error/cause/fix/prevention records, and exercises with explained solutions.

The baseline is Laravel 12 with PHP 8.3-compatible syntax. Isolated component examples are checked against installed Laravel 12.63.0 on PHP 8.5.12 CLI without loading the project bootstrap or environment. As reviewed on 2026-10-25, Laravel 12 receives security fixes through 2027-02-24; consult the official schedule when choosing a real project version. Application, deployment, and test fragments are labeled non-runnable and are not claims of executed HTTP, authentication, queue, or production behavior.

What you will learn

  • Explain request, route, middleware, validation, CSRF, and controller responsibilities.
  • Prepare safe view data and database access with explicit schema and relationship contracts.
  • Separate authentication, authorization, public API representation, and durable effects.
  • Test important outcomes and reason about sessions, cache, queue retries, performance, and release configuration honestly.

Who this is for

  • PHP learners ready to reason about framework boundaries and maintainable web application behavior.
  • Developers reviewing Laravel data access, middleware, policies, tests, and release assumptions.

Before you start

  • Basic PHP functions, classes, arrays, exceptions, HTTP, and SQL concepts.
  • Optional example validation needs compatible installed framework dependencies; database fixtures use only in-memory SQLite and no configured application services.
